WeTip was founded in February, 1972 by Bill and Miriam Brownell.  WeTip is the grandfather of all anonymous tip services.  Originally started as a citizen's group to eliminate drug dealers, WeTip quickly expanded to take information on all major crimes. Working together in support of trained law enforcement officers, citizens have used the WeTip system to launch a concerted attack against crime in their communities. The concept is a simple one: WeTip provides an anonymous, toll-free crime hotline to citizens who have information about a crime and want the authorities to have the information without having to reveal their identity in any way.

The People's Voice Against Crime
Citizens are getting pro-active in the War on Crime. Fighting back against school shootings, workplace rage, terrorist bombings, hate crimes, arson, and drive by gang retaliation. Now more than ever before citizens need a safe, anonymous way to give information about crime without fearing reprisal from the criminal they are turning in. It is time to stop the madness.

During the first year of WeTip's existence, 1972, WeTip operators took 850 anonymous crime tips and forwarded them on to police investigators. During the year 2004, the number of tips taken by WeTip had skyrocketed to 16,000 anonymous tips for the year. Citizens have found a way to report their information to a trusted organization that provides a safety and security needed for them to get involved.

This innovative program has become a safe haven for citizens throughout the nation, in schools, in business, in housing authorities, and in retirement homes. WeTip's commitment and integrity depends upon uninterrupted service to callers, reaching a live operator, 24 hours-a-day, 365 days-a-year. The statistics tell the story: with over 450,000 anonymous tips resulting in 15, 000 cases solved and nearly 8,000 criminals convicted.

WeTip stands on the cutting edge of technology by providing information about WeTip on the worldwide web at http://www.wetip.com. WeTip provides extensive information about the program via the internet and provides a safe, reliable way for citizens to send internet tips anonymously. WeTip provides a wealth of data resources for law enforcement agencies nationwide on demographic crime tip information.

WeTip has shown its effectiveness in providing its anonymous resources to municipalities, public entities, schools, private corporations and small businesses. WeTip provides a way for all citizens and students to turn their anger into action. Your opportunity to get involved may be as close as your telephone or your computer. Your involvement does make a difference.
