Mystery: Man goes missing after burned truck found
VICTORVILLE, CA • It was an interesting business. A drive-up espresso business where the java is served up by bikini-clad baristas.
That was William Wheeler’s idea.
But no one has seen the Washington businessman in almost a month since he left his Everett, Wash. home for Las Vegas to pick up an espresso machine.
Then his burned out pick-up truck with the espresso machine still inside was found by California Highway Patrol officials off of Quarry and Stoddard Wells roads.
Now the hunt is on for the 51-year-old man.
“There are suspicious circumstances surrounding this case,” Detective Anthony Valencia with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Victor Valley station said. “People don’t tend to leave their burned out vehicles on the side of the road.”
Additional Details:
- Mr. Wheeler is described as 5' 9", 200 Lbs, Gray Hair, Blue Eyes, with a scar on his chin.
- He left his home on May 26th to pick up some items from his former wife and go to an address in Las Vegas.
- Sheriff's officials said said his plans were to return home to Everett, WA after picking up the items.
- His 2002 Toyota Tundra was found off Quarry Road in an unincorporated area of Victorville, CA.
- Searches by land and air have not been able to locate the missing man.
- He has not been seen since.
